Yardage FAQ
How much fabric do I need for a t-shirt?
About 1.5 yards of 58–60 inch wide knit fabric per adult t-shirt, or roughly 2 yards on narrower 45 inch fabric. Production cutting in bulk uses slightly less per unit.
How much fabric do I need for a dress?
A knee-length dress typically takes 2.5–3 yards of 58–60 inch fabric; maxi and full-volume styles take 4 yards or more.
Does fabric width change how much I need?
Yes — pattern pieces fit differently across the width. Moving from 60 inch to 45 inch fabric increases required length by roughly a third for most garments.
Are these numbers exact?
They are planning estimates for average adult sizes. Actual consumption depends on your pattern, size range, print matching and marker efficiency — always confirm with your pattern layout before bulk ordering.
